The main focus of DMC-HRD is to promote the rights of racial and ethnic minorities as well as facilitate social cohesion and the full integration of minorities in local governance and development.

Across the globe, we work in partnership with likeminded civil society organistions to provide space for the civic engagement of minorities and build their capacity to promote and defend their rights .

About

Danish Minorities Center for Human Rights and Development (DMC-HRD) is a Danish registered NGO. DMC-HRD was founded in 2014 as a platform for the expert community and ethnic minorities in Denmark to get involved in projects aimed at promoting human rights, democratic governance and sustainable development; through DMC-HRD, experts and ethnic minorities can initiate, design and facilitate development projects both in Denmark and abroad. Abroad, DMC-HRD works through its partner organizations.

Objectives

  • To conduct civic education activities for immigrants in Denmark including refugees and foreign experts with the view of supporting their full integration in the Danish society,

  • To facilitate the effective participation of ethnic minorities and immigrants in social, economic and political affairs of the Danish society, and

  • To facilitate the engagement of ethnic minorities and immigrants in campaigns and development initiatives aimed at promoting decent livelihood, peace, social cohesion and human rights in developing and crises affected countries.

Join us as a Volunteer

Our work is done through project committees that comprise volunteers, we are consistently looking for enthusiastic and passionate individuals willing to be part of our Project Committees.

Anyone who finds our work interesting and willing to support us is welcome to volunteer with us.

You could join as a volunteer and support our work. A volunteer joining us could choose to support one or more of our Project Committees clustered in the thematic areas that inform our overall work.

If you join the Project Committee focused on thematic area 1 which is Human Rights and Democratic Governance, your work as a volunteer will involve facilitating workshops for immigrants, experts and refugees based Denmark as well as arranging visits to places like parliament.

If you join the Project Committees focused on thematic areas 2-5, your work will involve Identification of civil society partners abroad, drafting of grant proposals and coordinating projects under the specific thematic area.
